Topic:  Need help: Demos for a presentation
* Posted by DrKNickel Wednesday 28 June 2006 - 15:36
Hello everyone,

i am working on a presentation for a course at the university. Its about cgi and animation, but i want to show them the brilliant work the demo scene does.

I am not an expert, but a fan.

And i need your help :)

1.)
What demos would you show? What are the best demos (I downloaded all the demos that got awards) Which demos were important for the scene? (history)

2.)
Do you know any good sites/articles/books about the demo scene?

Thank you very much,
Greets DrKNickel

Just show the demos you like and that fit your presentation best.

Try the scene.org awards nominees. There are 1 or 2 books about the scene, and for sites there's demoscene.info, and wikipedia.

"Demoscene: Art of real-time" is a good book about the demoscene. Just google it and you'll find plenty of placed to buy it.

As for demos to show, it sort of depends on what kind of demos you want to show - 3D-modelling and "game-like" stuff, or abstract visualizations.

Either way, "Iconoclast" by ASD is a natural choice. :)
