| hello,
I actually am no active scener, I never went to a party, I never released something. I seldomly post something in here. But i Do enjoy all releases, look at videos & photos made at big parties & stuff.
The problem is I really miss the female part in the scene, I almost never see them in photos/videos. I have never heard of a female demogroup. Are they really absent or do I look in the false places ?
How's the ratio girls/guys on parties ? Like my faculty 2/100 ? or somewhat better ?
(you know anything under 3% is measurement error :)
| 1/100 is more sensible i guess.
also, squirrelz, powerpuff girls, to name a few (both dead, i guess). there is exactly one competent female coder (that i know of), and that's sole/xplsv. there's a couple of good female graphicians (mostly goth girlfriends of nerdy sceners, though). and a couple of female hangaround sceners.
also, does it matter? i guess more variety would make the scene more interesting and cozy, but hey, what do you expect with a hobby that's all about computers. go to a bar for girls.
| | Don't forget Clary/Drifters as a coder and both Ayame/Network and Mermaid/Scoopex as graphicians. | | |
| lol @ "(mostly goth girlfriends of nerdy sceners, though)"
when i grow up i wanna be more nerdy so i can get a goth gf! ^o^
| actually you're going to be a goth , so you have a chance for a nerdy gf :PPP
- rmeht - joking - | | |
| me a competent coder? :-$
I would like to improve enough to be called that :D
| more then 3 demos with more then 3 effects each == competent coder ;)
so now you know :) | | |
| You never see them in photos ??
Well, i'm not a scener too, because i never release a prod (yet)
But I usually see girls in demoparty photos, (i.e. Leia) i'm sure she's not alone, but like skrebbel said, they don't seem to be a lot - from extern -
| | Hey Gollum,are you that guy I saw on 3D-Buzz?? [Post edited by -olli- on Tuesday 5 April 2005 - 0:28] | | |
| if 3D-buzz is a party, or something relating the BP, it's not me, i'm not really a scener (i would like to be one)
if 3D-buzz is a forum or something else...maybe...
| | wasn't there a site that optimus made with only female sceners? | | |
| "i think i have abandoned the project"
*giggles* | | |
| | OMG -please- post a newer photo of me on there! :) | | |
| I've been a scener since the late 80's and much has happened in the last years. I went to Dreamhack Winter 2004 and The Gathering 2005 (we released prods at both places). Before that the last party I went to was The Gathering 1997 :-D.
There are many more girls at the parties now. Why? I think it's because gaming and chatting has made computer nerdery more accepted in general.
I looked around to see what the girls were doing and they fell into three categories:
1. Heavy gaming
2. Heavy chatting
3. Hangaround to their scene or gamer boyfriend
I think this development is nice although more girls as active sceners would be better.

| @chip273:
There are very few girls in the demoscene - but a LOT of queens. =)
| | jessika/damones is another.. and she is.. well rather nice too :) | | |
| There are several more girls active in the scene, but wisely enough, they're not always very interested in being very high profile sceners.
I can briefly mention: Delilah, Radiant, Darcy, Gabi and a whole lot of swedish girls (svenskjäklar).
I guess girls in the scene get a lot of unwanted attention. Which I can perfectly understand.
