Hello. Let me just say that I am your fan first, and secondly, that I believe ASD is the finest demoscene coding group in the world.
One look at "Rapture" and I knew I had found someone with the same vision to bring to life an idea I've been seriously hoping to achieve for over 7 years now. If you will just reply and give me a chance, I will not let you down, I promise you. The style of your Rapture demo is unlike anything before, having a Matrix-like feel to it, yet distinctly different simultaneously; plus, the morphing algorythms you created for it are absolutely insane and visionary.
I don't have the first clue as to whether you'd even be interested in what I'm offering, but I do know I can't know either way unless I just go ahead and ask you. So here goes:
I want to pitch a game idea to you. Not just any game, but a coder's game, a top game idea ... the one game if any hacker wanted to create, this would be the one. I'm not here to waste your time. This is not a joke, and it's nothing less than the most serious offer. This game idea is not the usual fair, I swear it on my life. It's a truly unique idea, and for the game to work as I've seen in my mind for 7 years now, it would take the world's finest coders, and I believe that's you.
I won't get into any real details here in the open, suffice to say if you would just reply to my email address below with just the kindness of letting me explain my pitch to you, even if you don't want to program a game, I know you will feel your time was not wasted and that I am serious about this. I've played games since the 70's, almost everything, and I know what originality is, and my idea is awesome, fresh, and would be every coder's wildest dream come true. And it would give many other reasons to code demos beyond those you already find alluring. I often can't sleep at night because the idea keeps swimming to the surface of my mind and I just keep shaking my head because I know if anyone else could see this idea as I have seen it in full, they would be awestruck.
I truly believe I could be the next Icefrog ... if someone will just let me show them what I'm talking about, you would see soon enough.
There are a few final points I will leave you with, in the hopes that you will contact me and give me the chance to pitch my dream to you, as follows:
(0) (It's proper to begin with a 0 for coders, hahaha) .... In my mind the game's being successfully created comes first; therefore, I would be willing to take any fee, sign any fair contract, as long as its in the best interest of getting my dream moving toward reality. So I'm not here asking for any kind of a hand out. But I would need to be a part of it's development because I've lived with the idea for 7 years now. It's a part of my soul.
(1) There are reasons I can't divulge here that this game will be, without question, a guaranteed money maker. My point is that you will get funding for this game without breaking a sweat. And with your coding polish and talent going into this concept, the buzz for this game will be so huge I am not swimming in the clouds when I say that it will become a world-wide sensation like World of Warcraft.
(2) If you let me come and work on my dream with you, I won't ask for a big salary to start... just enough to rent a small place and survive while we invest everything into the dream. I will do anything for this dream, including embarressing myself on this board to the entire community for just one chance to be heard by ASD (regarding this game in full).
(3) I won't try to run the show just because it's "my idea" ... I will relinquish control once the idea is fully unveiled in all its glory. I am willing to sign any contract stipulating this.
(4) I wouldn't ask for any kind of commission or fee unless and until the game is completed. I don't want to hog the profit, I just want something in line with my value to the project as seen overall at its conclusion.
(5) I have many digital skills but not enough to seriously contribute in any meaningful way to the actual development of the game EXCEPT FOR INGENIUS game concepts and logistics. I know this game. I know how it's supposed to work. I know what makes it fun, and great, and what elevates it. If anyone working on the game ever gets stuck, I promise I can get them unstuck. I know my value, and I must say without reservation that I am a genius for generating ideas, and I'm a problem solver for this kind of concept. So my role would probably have to be relegated to "Game Advisor" because I don't know any coding or anything.
(6) I am currently teaching English to Chinese people in China, and my contract doesn't end until July of 2011, so there's plenty of time to chat about this, see if its down your alley, and set up arrangements. I've been here for 3 years now, and I'm tired of living this life, however glorious it's been. I've also lived in Germany for 4 years, so if you're in a German or similar country, I have no qualms about living there either. I loved Germany, more than I love China. And ... if you're in the U.S., that's my homeland, and I'd be very excited to return with a solid job building my dream.
FINALLY:
I know I may seem a bit intense, or perhaps desperate posting all of this here on the demo-scene board, and I'm not even sure you'll see this as I still haven't found any emails tied to your group, but I am almost 40 and I have no wife, nor any children, and not much in the way of a future. All I care about is finding someone to help me build this dream. ASD, I truly hope that is YOU.
The game isn't just to play ... its something that educates and grows people ... and is competitive in a way not seen before ... but in which ties directly to the things hackers and coders love. This game could even be responsible for a new boon to the hacking industry, and a whole new generation of people who will go to technical colleges around the world with this game stuck in their mind as the reason they got into the coding industry. I truly and humbly beg for 15 minutes to share with you this idea that has been trapped in my mind for 7 years now.
