The verification URL given in the e-mail when you register an account does not exist!

The URL is:
http://id.scene.org/verify.php?verifykey=xxxx

By sheer luck, I guessed to change id to www, and it worked:
http://www.scene.org/verify.php?verifykey=xxxx

Hopefully this is fixed soon -- otherwise you may see a sharp decline in new users ;)
