| Hello,
I'm French but my father was Hungarian and I'd like to give an hungarian name to my son. I really like "Milan". This name is on the hungarian calendar but I also know that it is most of the time used by Serbians. So, do you think it's a stange, unusual or shocking name ?
Thanks

| What a nice surprise. Clara from the hongrieforum, isn't it?
Well, I am afraid this site won't be of much help to you...
Do you know any other English sites, which might concern us Hungarians?
By the way, I love the name Milan even though it is slavish.
But I would rather recommend a name international. It's nice to have a traditional Hungarian name but for example nobody can pronounce my name in England (Zsófi) and I had nothing but trouble with it so far...
I wish you all the best,
Take care,

| That's a slav name. We spell it Milán and it does not sound strange/shocking, it just sounds like a foreign name. If you choose that, you should not say to people that it's because you wanted to give him a Hungarian name :)
