nullarbor is a demoparty and game development competition combined. It is an event designed to bring together a community of Australian sceners to encourage and grow both the demoscene here in Australia as well as helping develop the game development industry. (There is also almost $1000AUD in prizes!)

Adrian Boeing said this in a mail post to the scene.org organizers mailinglist: The last time a demoparty was held in Australia was Coven 2001, and the last time a demoscene event was held in Western Australia was 1996 (10 years ago!).

nullarbor submission system is open! Only 10 days left till submissions close!

The full-day event (9AM to 9PM) takes place at Edith Cowan University, Mount Lawley, on Thursday the 23rd of February 2006.

Entry and participation is free. Throughout the day the entries can be played, viewed and voted on, there will also be a surprise contest running every hour. Select episodes of Control Freaks, and locally produced SceneTV will be screened around the campus, and nullarbor will wind up with a BBQ.

Prizes to be given out on the day include cash, CDs and DVDs, along with some cool gear from Microsoft.

Sponsors and supporters include Edith Cowan University, Microsoft Visual Studio Express Editions, ACM SIGGRAPH Perth, Computer Village Rentals, PixelJuice, RedFlag LanFest, Pilgrimage demo party, Adrian Boeing, Perth Independent Game Makers Initiative (PIGMI), and Team Affinity demo group.
