Topic:  ASM, vesa, dos extender
* Posted by oxinitiateur Monday 5 January 2004 - 4:39
As a beginner...

I need to code a graphic interface for a robot. I used dos32 as an extender, it works well under dos and windowsxp but i'm limited to 4megs and there's no LFB. Dos32a with watcom creates all sorts of problems with portability. (CHANGIN' OS)

Dos anyone know a good linker-extender combinaison that would allow me to code and compile under winxp and execute the program under dos and/or winxp. With watcom i,got problems with de DPMI... I want to use VESA...

This thread belongs in the Flame board, noone can respond this seriously.

Sum: you suck.

No, you're the one that sucks. He mentioned a robot, so maybe the hardware where this interface will be running on is very limited, and maybe that's the reason why he wants to use DOS (while developing under XP).

Are you as stupid as you sounds?

Check your flames for grammar mistakes.

Stop talking to yourself :-)

(btw, this was a reply to lator's post, not shifter's post (bug in the forum?))

Very constructive later lator.

And btw, I know that I'm also not very constructive here, but unfortunately I can't help you with DOS development under XP (never done it, I use the real thing for that :-)

However, was I right with my guess that your hardware is limited and that you therefore are
using DOS? Have you considered trying Linux (or
ucLinux?)

Is the real thing Lynux?

I think your right, i'll switch to lynux.

LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX, LINUX.

Hmm, don't know what to think of this last post of you. It seems nobody on this thread is really being constructive ;-)

* Posted by oxinitiateur Wednesday 14 January 2004 - 21:51
Yes, sorry!

Yes we want to use a 386 with, maybe, a 387. We want to be fast and light. This robot is gonna be climbing stairs in a weird but optimal way. We need speed.

I hope i won't have to work too much to be able to program for linux. I never used this OS

Maybe you can't, but I bet there are people that can. People that, say, have a higher IQ than your presumable 80.

I think he doesn't just need a higher IQ. There's also definately something wrong with his EQ :-)

EQ? Wow! Someone else than me mentioned EQ in a scene forum! =)

* Posted by skrebbel Wednesday 22 June 2005 - 21:28
