Scene.org Awards newsflash

Good news, everyone! The long awaited world tour has ended and the Scene.org Awards prize statues have returned home safely. All the winners will be contacted shortly and the prizes are shipped to the final destinations in the coming weeks.

There's also bad news: The Scene.org Awards might not take place in 2010. We're seriously lacking resources and manpower in organizing another edition of Scene.org Awards, and unless we overcome these obstacles we'll have to cancel the event for next year. For more information and follow-up discussion, visit the Scene.org forums.

Scene.org, Breakpoint and YOU!

As many of you might know, the Scene.org Awards have taken place at the Breakpoint demo party in Bingen am Rhein every easter since our first event in 2003. Due to the global financial crisis, Breakpoint has lost vital sponsors, and the party is in deep financial trouble.

In order to continue the great tradition of both the Scene.org Awards and the Breakpoint demo party itself, Scene.org has decided to sponsor the party.

We are inviting all demosceners to contribute to our sponsorship by making a dedicated donation on this page. Rest assured, your donation will go directly to the Breakpoint organizing team. So, head over to our new donation page and help us out -- any amount will do, every little bit helps!

New Swedish and US mirrors!

I'm proud to announce two new mirrors of the Scene.org Archive:

First up we were finally offered a new Swedish mirror by the DF Computer Society at Lund University, to follow in the footsteps of Sunet.

And after the NVision'08 event we were contacted by the Carnegie Mellon University Computer Club and they offered to host a US based mirror to cater the North American demoscene!

Big thanks to both these teams for their support to the demoscene!
