 | Server move - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT | 17 May 2001 |
| | we will be moving the server to it's new location. We will also be installing two new extra servers, to improve our service to you all. If everything goes as planned all services (ftp, news, hosted websites and irc) will be running again on friday, until then most of our services will be offline..
Our mirrors will still be working however, so you can find the files at ftp.se.scene.org. For our newssystem you can use our Dutch news mirror at news.nl.scene.org. |

| | We're setting up a second SQL server, that will serve as a backup when the primary is down for some reason. Ofcourse it needs some testing, so that's what this newsitem is for :)
Things are looking good.

| Downtime | 02 May 2001 |
| | Sorry for the long downtime of scene.org last weekend. We were hit by a DoS (denial-of-service) attack on Friday 27th of April right before the weekend, because of this we couldn't reach the server. Monday also was a national holiday here in The Netherlands, so we had to wait some more before we could get the server back up. But now it's back again.
We are going to work on a redundancy plan for scene.org to make sure things like this won't happen again in the future. One of the plans is to better integrate our mirrors into the scene.org site, so traffic will be spread more equally. Also we are going to move the server to a new location. All of this will happen in two or three weeks if things go as planned. |
