| Dreams & Dreams 2 compilation CDs | 17 Apr 2002 |
| | Great news! A while ago we were contacted by Darkness/Imphobia who browsed our demo compilation section and found something was missing... and gave us permission to add the famous Dreams and Dreams 2 CD archives of scene productions made by him to the scene.org archive! After the big server move we finally had the space to really put them into the archive and PS took upon the task of imaging the CDs and uploading them to the archive.
The result of this all is that you now can freely download full copies of the legendary Dreams and Dreams 2 demoscene compilations from the archive and burn them for your collection! Enjoy!
17 April UPDATE: We repacked and reuploaded the Dreams 2 CDs and checked them for CRC errors. Both CDs are errorfree now. Our appologies for the inconvenience. |

| | While I was checking the download logs I found to my surprise a host called sunsite.icm.edu.pl that downloaded all files in the archive.. I went to check it out and found a complete mirror of the scene.org archive!
So thanks to the SunSITE archive at the University of Warsaw we now have a new Polish mirror for all you polish sceners! This is very good news, because Poland has a very big scene community and this improves our service to them. |

| Archive volume rebuild | 08 Apr 2002 |
| | Due to space running out on the ftp volume, we are forced to rebuild the raid configuration. This will also allow us to add disks very easily in the future.
The ftp archive will be offline for a few hours.
17:47 UPDATE: It all went perfectly ... took a bit long but hey what do you expect with an archive of 80GB :) One thing didn't survive the rebuild though, our ftp welcome message. So if anyone still has the old welcome message of the ftpsite, please mail it to us. |

| Server move - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT | 03 Apr 2002 |
| | This afternoon the scene.org servers will be moved to a new location. This will result in multiple hours of downtime for all services hosted on the main servers. All the mirrors will still be available and can be used to access the ftparchive.
The reason for this move is that we can respond faster in case of server downtimes and the new location provides us with more bandwidth, so we hope we can increase the userlimit on the main ftpserver.
Our appologies for this late announcement.
0:05 UPDATE: The server move was succesful although Dutch traffic didn't help much in doing this fast :) The servers are now at their new location and all primary services are running. Services that are still broken: the ircnetwork, the usenet feed for news.scene.org. We'll try to fix these services as soon as possible. |

| Scene.org got hacked .. | 01 Apr 2002 |
| | 21:40 I go to check www.scene.org to see if everything is running smoothly with all the TG02 and MS02 madness going on.. "What the hell?!?" the site says "hacked by habzu@ircnet" instead of showing the normal Scene.org logo. I almost get a heartattack!
21:43 I log into the server and fix the frontpage as quickly as possible.
21:45 Like crazy I check the logfiles, but because of the easter partymadness the logs are big as hell.. can't find anything out of the ordinary.
21:46 Time for a talk with mr habzu on irc. He keeps telling me he didn't do anything, and it was just a joke. I tell him that I'm not angry, but just want to know how he did it.. so i can fix the holes in the server. Again he tells me he didn't do anything.
Suddenly I get a msg on irc from our webdesigner Jokke: "hi :)"
AAARRRRGGHH goddamn! It all becomes clear to me .. it's the 1st of April... I didn't fall for a single joke the entire day, and just when I was getting ready to go to sleep..... hope you had a nice day too :) APRIL FOOL! |
