 | Ben "Diablo" Shelton (1974-2005) | 05 Apr 2005 |
| | We are very sad to report the passing of a great friend of ours: Ben Shelton aka Diablo / Hornet. Ben helped manage the archive for years, always had great improvement ideas, and was a very good personal friend of many of us. As a member of Hornet, he was also instrumental in the running of the Hornet Archive. Ben's legacy will live on in our hearts and minds, and in scene.org
He was found dead in his apartment in Portland. The medical examiner said he died from "natural causes", they think it may have been a sudden case of meningitis.
We have lost an incredibly good man at an incredibly young age.. Ben had a lot of plans for the future, a great lust for life and sense of humor.. He was a very creative, smart and kind person. And we'll always remember him dearly.

That's awful.
The scene just lost somebody who dedicated hours and hours in the back to make everything work smoothly on scene.org.
But more importantly I lost a dear friend whom I am most indebted.

| Oh my god.. it is always a shock to hear someone close to you has died at such a young age. I would like to thank you Ben for all the times we have worked together keeping the old scene.org running the best we could, and i truely enjoyed all the late night discussions we had about it.

| there are absolutely no words in any language to effectively communicate the feelings that run through my head as i think back to so many countless fond recollections that all involved you in some capacity.
the whole damn family came back together again for you, my friend. i hope somewhere, somehow, wherever you are now, you were able to see that. you brought joy and happiness to everyone whose life you touched, and our collective sadness is overshadowed only by each and every smile at those same, countless fond memories. you are going to be missed in ways i cannot describe.

| I am absolutely devestated.....i'm ridden with sadness and considering i was in town and we didn't even catch up.
He is a wonderful person and we will all miss him greatly.

| Even though I met hundreds of people in #trax over the years, I always remembered "Diablo" as one of the most pleasant people there. I got the news while at an internet cafe in Paris, and just kind of stared at the screen for a long time unsure what to do.

| Wow, this comes as quite a shock. Ben was a dedicated guy who gave his all to whatever he was involved in. We had many, many debates over the last 11 years in #trax, and those will be missed, but fondly remembered.
Your contributions to the scene will never be forgotten.

I was talking to him on the phone a few months ago about meeting up this year (after a few failures some years ago).
This is... shocking.

| I was just going through my ICQ-list and was wondering how Ben was doing - and now I read this. This is so sad...
I regularly spoke with Ben at #trax back in the scene days, and later on ICQ - and was lucky enough to meet up with him at The Party in Denmark. RIP Ben
